Each individual filament not only bears tension independently when subjected to force, but also distributes the load uniformly through close friction and synergistic interaction between strands. This resembles the ‘rope effect’ – a single strand breaks easily, whereas strands twisted into a cable become resilient and difficult to sever. Increasing the number of strands directly expands the load-bearing cross-sectional area and optimises stress distribution. This simultaneously enhances both ultimate static strength (resistance to single-event breakage) and fatigue strength (resistance to fracture under cyclic loading). Consequently, in orthopaedic fixation, titanium cables with a higher strand count provide more reliable long-term mechanical assurance for high-stress areas, such as long bone fractures and periprosthetic fixation.

Application :

Treatments of these fractures request balancing out muscle strength, but the fragments are too small to be fixed by big internal implants. So, titanium cable can play an irreplaceable role.

Titanium binding system can play an important role in many other case, such as PFF, comminuted fracture of femoral shaft, nonunion owing to failed internal fixation, reconstruction of bone defect and wide-bound splitting fracture.
